YUM! Alkalising Smoothie.

Have only just started to understand the concept of having a more alkaline system, opposed to an acidic. There's nothing more refreshing that alkalising smoothies too!

This is reposted from Osha Key

3 ripe bananas
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 cups shredded kale
2 teaspoons spirulina
1 inch fresh ginger
Pinch of each: cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg
1.5 cup water (or to your liking)

Add all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg not only make the smoothie taste amazing, but also contribute to the anti-inflammatory effect of this amazing drink. Plus, cinnamon helps balance blood sugar levels which is vital for staying energized all day long.

Off the hook.

Raw vegan choc/peanut energy balls.

1/2 cup raw cashews
1/2 cup peanuts (I used natural peanut butter that I made at my local health food store that was fresh _ crunchy)
1/2 cup cacao beans
1/4 cup cacao powder
1/4 coconut oil
1/4 tsp vanilla powder
1/2 tsp Himalayan salt (conventional salt/table salt is actually poison, it is so processed these days that you need to stay away from it)
3 un-pitted medjool dates
2 handfuls of amaranth puffs (to roll balls in)

Blend raw cashews and peanuts (if not already in a crunchy butter form) in a blender until it has a crunchy butter-like texture, then add all other ingredients except for the amaranth puffs, and continue to process.

I added a tiny drizzle of filtered water (use cool boiled water if you don't have a filter) about three times to help my blender out when things got too sticky, but see how you go, ultimately you want a sticky but relatively smooth texture so you can roll it into balls.

Spread the amaranth puffs out on a plate or chopping board, scoop mixture out of blender with a spoon and roll into balls. Roll balls in amaranth puffs and then place in glass container in the fridge to set.

This recipe makes about 12 balls, they are such a great afternoon pick me up treat, enjoy!

Why you should never use conventional salt ( table salt ):
'Your table salt is actually 97.5% sodium chloride and 2.5% chemicals such as moisture absorbents, and iodine. Dried at over 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit, the excessive heat alters the natural chemical structure of the salt'  (info taken from this page). / MAKE SURE YOU USE PURE SEA SALT, I PREFER PINK HIMALAYAN SALT FROM MY LOCAL ORGANIC STORE – shop around to get an idea of pricing first so you don't spend too much on your salt just because it in comes in a fancy jar with a fancy sticker, unless you're into that, which to be honest I sometimes am.

Three Over - Layered- One

Adding a bit of sex to casual.

Loving my three over one jumper that I bought at the Jac+Jack intersection store during the summer... it helped me out during some of the wonderful storm swims I encountered in between our hot summer days this year... and is now proving more than handy on cold windy mornings. Just bought this lovely soft viscose shirt from Seafolly, and taming it with a jumper has been perfect.

M i n i m a l

When having to use your bedroom as your workspace, it's important to make the most of space yet find a way to keep it clear and minimal so inspiration can move around freely/for the sake of sanity. I spent the end of the summer doing this to my room - clearing it out and making the most of space. I donated lots of my unnecessary clothes to Op Shops, and old craft things to my younger sister, my friends helped me too which gave an insight into using the space/stacking things in ways I could not see on my own..

Consume less / value quality.

New Addiction

- v e g a n   s m o o t h i e -
- eat clean -

My new favourite smoothie recipe:

- organic rice milk
- frozen organic banana (whenever your bananas get too ripe, don't waste them, put them in the freezer and save them for super smoothies and/or baking!)
- small handful of frozen organic raspberries
- two heaped teaspoons of organic cocoa powder (put as much or as little as you like, two heaped ones makes it quite chocolate-rich)
- two to four organic cocoa beans (skin removed) for a nice crunchy texture

A really amazing Australian supplier of organic produce and grocies is Honest to Goodness
- they have a great online store that you can either choose to have your items delivered or pick up from their Alexandria showroom! *Buy products with some friends or family members, split the quantity and spilt the cost, it works out to be just as affordable as non-organic nasty products.
